What’s all this then?

Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the beginning of the beginning.

My very first blog post. And, hopefully, not my last! No, really – I’m committed. Not sure to what yet, but I’m committed to something.

I have a lot of ideas and it’s time I wrote some of them down. Not just for my sake but to give my poor boyfriend a rest from my ranting and raving. I’m hoping to sort them all into some sections and design a user-friendly menu system for people to peruse with ease but, in reality, I’m chuffed that I’ve managed to set the pages up at all! So watch this space and hopefully I’ll learn some brand-spanking-new ICT skills along the way too!

Who on earth am I, I hear you ask (if you’re still here). I’m a writer and English teacher from Gloucestershire, UK. When I’m not bossing around teenagers, I’m writing, reading or procrastinating (and beating myself up about not doing the other two). I live with my boyfriend and our cat, Ripley, a furry little sadist with a penchant for psychological torture and cuddling. Recently, we moved to the Cotswolds and now we live in a lovely old farmhouse in the back of beyond. Having lived in the busy smoke all my life (Essex, Derby, Gloucester, Cheltenham), this is a lovely and much-needed escape for both of us. Although, it has come with its learning curves – everything from mice in the attic to bees zooming out of the fireplace. I think that’s a blog post in itself so watch this space. If you’re interested to know more about me for now, then check out my ABOUT ME section.

I hope to post a range of things on here: book reviews, extracts of my writing, and other musings on a range of topics from teaching to writing to whatever it is I’ve become obsessed with this week. Maybe even the occasional moan. If that’s your sort of thing then feel free to follow along with this journey and hopefully we’ll end up somewhere exciting. Perhaps I’ll even learn how to format the posts at some point along the way! (I wouldn’t hold your breath!)

K 🙂
